Materials

Studio Arvor prides itself on using the finest materials without compromising on our high environmental and social responsibility standards. Each material selected for use in our products has been carefully evaluated to ensure that they are not only of high quality, but that they are managed and produced in a way that follows best practice – minimising environmental harm, providing employment for local communities and craftspeople and are safe for your home and indoor air quality.

Timber

Our wood products use timber which is hand-selected from local saw mills to ensure that it meets our standards and has the characteristics that we love about English hardwoods. When buying an item from us, we’ll provide location details of the saw mill and the woodland, for your peace of mind.

Upholstery

Our fabric upholstery uses only plant-based fabrics which are certified organic, meaning they are grown in a way that avoids the use of harmful manmade chemicals, supporting farmers who choose to farm in a more environmentally-friendly and sustainable way. Plant-based because we don’t need any more plastic (e.g. polyester, acrylic) in our homes. Similarly, our chair cushions are made using coir, hessian and organic wadding, also plant based materials.

Glass

As standard we use toughened glass that contains at least 35% recycled glass and provide the option for clients to choose glass that is 100% recycled.

Desktop linoleum

Desktop linoleum offers a satin matt finish, it is made from 97% natural materials with 27.5% of this being recycled content. The desktop linoleum we use is made using 100% renewable electricity and can be recycled or composted after use.

Finishes

In order to prolong the lifespan of our wood products they need to be finished with an oil to make them more resistant to wear and tear. We use an oil which is safe for humans, animals and plants, and is based on natural plant oils and waxes.

Packaging

Recycled paper packaging is used when shipping our smaller home accessories, and our postage costs include a small fee to ensure that any carbon emissions from the shipping process are offset using accredited carbon offsetting schemes.
